Amr Diab at SouthMED

A landmark launch with a headline act

To mark the launch of South Med, the organisers went straight to the top: a headline concert from Amr Diab. A Guinness World Record holder and multiple World Music Award winner, he is the best-selling Middle Eastern artist of all time and one of the few names in the region that can fill a venue on its own, which made him the ideal draw to put a new destination on the map.

The result was a launch delivered at full concert scale. Thousands turned up for the show, and an audience of that size, arriving across a single night for one of the region's biggest artists, made ticketing and access as important to the evening as the performance itself.

The KNOT Technologies Impact

On the night, the platform was built for the crowd. Thousands of fans moved through entry quickly, each ticket verified in a tap, with scanning that kept working fully offline where connectivity was patchy, so entry never depended on a live network holding up. Live analytics ran alongside it, giving the team a real-time read on sales and entry as the night unfolded, down to how fast tickets were moving and where the crowd was building.

The value did not stop when the concert ended. Every ticket sold left South Med with a first-party record of who had attended and how they had engaged with the event, data that fed directly into a loop for retargeting those same fans ahead of future events at the destination. Rather than starting from zero each time, South Med could market its next event straight to an audience it already knew had shown up once, turning the concert's data into a working revenue mechanism for the events that followed.
